The Next Time I See Her, She Will Be Walking

Molly is almost two months old, I'm cuddling while I can, because the next time I see her she will be walking.  It is official, so now I can announce the reason for my third trip this year to Missouri to see grandkids and the reason why we did not go through with buying that little piece of land in June.  We are moving.  Come the end of September we will be calling Boise, Idaho home.  And Idaho is a whole lot further from Missouri.

I was happy to accompany my daughter and her family to the Neosho County Fair.  Adrianna LOVES animals of all kinds!

She even loves the donkey - who bit her!  Tristan is getting so tall!  Seems like yesterday that he was only 2 months old.

Life feels this way some times, especially the last couple of months, and next couple, while prepping our house to travel miles away.

One month ago

One month ago today we watched this precious sweetie enter the world.  If only she didn't live over 700 miles away. :(  Happy Birthday Molly!

June 1st brought us our 5th grandchild, another grandson - Ruben Valentino. Isn't he a doll?!



So much hair! Can't wait to meet him in person, until then happy to get to see him in photos at least.

Sookie aka Patches

Sookie found a home. I know several of you fell in love with her too, but distance and such made it difficult. I'm really happy with the people who are taking her because she is only moving next door. I feel so lucky that I will be able to continue watching her grow up.

The funny thing is, she is going to the people we thought of first, when she came into our world by surprise. Our neighbors lost a dear friend, a 13 year old yellow Lab named Blue back in August, and when Surprise Puppy popped out we immediately thought of them. But we didn't know if it would be too soon, etc. I introduced Sookie to them a week ago and they fell in love. One day last week they took her home for about 3 hours to see how she fit in with everyone (they have 3 sons) and a cat. When they brought her back, they let me know they wanted her and we set up a date for her to go. The youngest boy has renamed her Patches and I think they will all be fine, but if not, she'll only be right next door. :0)

A couple of weeks ago, Sookie went to the vet and got her first shots, I snapped this with the cell phone while she hid under the bench, lol.  Couldn't remember if I had shared it, if I had, oops!

She discovered the grandkids' nerf soccer ball - she loves it! Flips it and rolls it and bites it.

She's so feisty and fun!

Sookie went to the vet yesterday, checked out perfect. She got her first shot and didn't even cry, or flinch. Such a sweetheart!

Our Crazy Lhasas

I recently rearranged the furniture for the winter and the pups are going crazy trying to get to the birds.  Brodi on the left and Fibi on the right jump up each time a bird comes to feed.  I just grabbed the point and shoot to snap them, was afraid they would disappear if I took the time to change the lens on the big boy.

Fibi's puppy loves to sleep like this, like mother like daughter I guess. I'm thinking she should go to a photographer - she doesn't mind when I take photos of her, she stays still and just opens an eye, or two, and watches. I think maybe she likes it, lol.

6 weeks old tomorrow

Sookie loves people! Can you tell? If I look at her, she looks at me, and she wiggles all over. Sookie in the shade. . .

Sookie in the sun. She loves to play with leaves. I've bought her a couple of toys but she still prefers leaves, lol.  All of these are straight out of the camera, no editing at all, and taken with the point and shoot - she loves playing with the wrist strap.

I caught her sleeping with mama.  See the box in the background, well that ended up being the whelping box and where she spent the first 5 weeks of her life - she was a surprise puppy after all.  But a week ago, she learned to climb out and there's no stopping her.  I finally cut a little opening (you can see it behind Fibi) to make it easier for her to get in and out.  She still puts herself to bed in the box.  But last night Fibi was sleeping on the cushion outside the box and she climbed up with her mama.  So sweet!

Tonight she's been sleeping on her daddy's pillows.  She is a sweetheart.

Please take me home

Sookie puppy, 5 weeks 3 days, exploring the outdoors, leaves and sunshine. So much fun! Such a joy! Lhasa Apso who loves people! I am giving her to a good home and am willing to drive her at least part way, depending on where you are maybe the whole way. . .

PS The only avenues I'm using to find her a home are here, facebook, word of mouth and her vet's office. I'm sure we'll find her a home that way and I feel she'll be going to a friend that way. Ideally a blogger so I'll still read about her time to time, lol. She gets her 6 weeks shots on Monday and she won't be ready to go for a while I would just like to know I have a home lined up.

The little puppy is now 3 weeks old and doing great! I took these photos right after she opened her eyes at 2 weeks old though, I'm just slow getting them up.

She is a precious Lhasa Apso puppy, the only one in her litter, an only child like me, lol.

She is looking for a home for when she's old enough to leave her mommy if you know of anyone looking. . .

Lhasa Apsos are from Tibet and considered lucky, they are only supposed to be given as gifts. They are guardians of the temples, companions of monks and mountain dogs.

I am just amazed at how fast they grow! You can really tell. He's the hot pink one, lol. He's about half the size of the others! Cell pic, better ones later.

Macro Monday ~ Hatchling

Exciting things happening here over the weekend! I had to share that our eggs are hatching and the House Finch couple are parents to 3 so far. I am working on a longer post of their journey thus far that will be immediately below this one, but I had to take advantage of this neat experience for a Macro Monday.  He's still attached to his little egg, maybe an hour hatched.

A boy and a girl start a family

One day this puffy boy "stalked" this girl. . .

She was preoccupied making a nice home for herself near the grocery store, so she didn't notice him right away. Finally he grabbed her by the top feathers and flew her into the bushes. {The bird feeder in the background fell a few days ago - Eek!}

Shortly thereafter she returned to her house building project. She decided it wouldn't be bad to have a little muscle help, so she allowed him to assist.

It wasn't long at all before she decided that she would like a little family to enjoy her new house. So she coaxed the boy back into the bushes and when they returned she popped out an egg. . .

. . .then there were two. . .

. . .then there were four. Proud as she could be she sought approval from the Big Orb in the Window.

Once the eggs were laid, she frequently called out to the boy to bring her food, and an occasional bit of chocolate. The sad thing is, although the boy worked very hard on the house, and he catered to her every need, he was not allowed to sleep in the house.

She sat, and she sat, and she sat some more. Occasionally she remembered there was a grocery store all around her house and would lazily graze while sitting. Occasionally she would go for a fly with her beau, but most of the time, she sat and waited.

Exactly 2 weeks after the first egg landed in the house, a baby broke out of the egg and began demanding food.

It was the girl's time to fly and fly and cater to someone's needs. However, the boy loved her so very much he was more than willing to share her load. She once again inquired of the Orb in the Window, hoping to please him.

Sometimes, when the babies slept and all was quiet, the boy and the girl would sneak back off into the bushes.

Suddenly there were three, soon to be four, more mouths to feed.

Sidenote: I have noticed that my venetian blinds are reflecting in the window and will try to remedy that for the next photos. Dang! It's kinda hard flying blind, lol. I love that I can leave the camera there, but it's difficult making sure it's pointed in the proper place and not so easy to adjust without disturbing the clan. I'm happy for the remote and tripod in this situation but boy I want to be able to move around them without the glass between us and all these new challenges to overcome.
