Singing his little heart out!
Some birds cooperate fully, while others. . .
A coy sparrow
The white-breasted nuthatches stay all summer, but the red-breasted are back now too.
We have a plethora of chickadees tour our yard daily, but a few have gotten zany, hoping over the plastic divider and into the seed! They often hop back out the other side. lol
We have several woodpeckers visit daily. This one was not in our yard, but you'll be seeing one of them soon.
And this dark-eyed junco is not in our yard but many are - they just don't cooperate as well in my yard.
The chipmunks are gathering for the upcoming winter. Their puffy cheeks always make me giggle. The squirrels are driving me crazy getting into the seed too! All except one, Pixel (the flying squirrel) has been making appearance again - I'm hoping she'll move back into the birdhouse for the winter.
I have not seen turkeys in our yard but I often see them a few blocks away from our house.
I had a new visitor to my yard. A bird I had not seen here before. She tried to ignore me.
Peeking over her shoulder coyly.
Then she finally let me get a better look. If I’m not mistaken I think she’s a female Scarlet Tanager. Whatever she is, she sure is cute!
I love the bright red of male Cardinals but they only pass through my yard. It was nice that while I was visiting my parents in Missouri a few came to hang out with me at the bird feeders.
Aside from their bright bold red, I truly love their little top plume of feathers!
I enjoy the duller shades of the female. I think her variations of color make her more beautiful than the male.
On a side note - I think my daughter and granddaughter will be going home from the hospital today, which means my grandson will be going home. The house has sure been full - and busy - with him in it. He has kept me hopping, but there have been many hugs and laughs. But my point is that he has kept me too busy to be online much so once he goes home this afternoon you can expect me to start making the rounds.
