Enter for a chance to win a fitbit One

20121025-134116.jpg

I just purchased a fitbit One Monday and I LOVE IT! Of course, today I run across a contest for a free one, so I'll pass the link on, maybe one of you can win it. :0) If you already use fitbit, lets be friends and encourage each other! :) PS, I'm also on myfitnesspal and mapmyfitness if you use one of those.

The link, where maybe you can win a neat little motivational device!

It's an April Fools Day Giveaway! :0)~

IMG_9877

It all started with a certain 4 year old (my grandson) going to a birthday party and playing with one of these chickens. Right before Dennis and I left for New Orleans, I asked Tristan what he would like me to bring back for him. He requested, a poopin' chicken.

IMG_9870

We searched high and we searched low all across, Mississippi, Louisiana and Illinois and we had no luck! I swear you used to be able to find them everywhere. Not any more let me tell you. Once we were back home I asked my facebook friends to help me locate one. Claires used to have them, they don't anymore, btw. But Toys R Us has them in their party area, or they did in February.

They don't really poop, as you can see. They pop out an egg when squeezed. Some office sites online sell them as stress chickens.

IMG_9875

So, if you're feeling a little stressed out, or just need a giggle, leave me a comment (make sure I have your email address).  I'll draw one name tomorrow evening, and if it's yours, I'll ship a brand new poopin' chicken to your door.

And the winner is:

Colleen who said,
Snort!! (That’s the first sound I made when I saw the picture.)
I love the idea of giving something silly away for April Fool’s day. This should be something everyone does! What a fun link-up that would be.
BTW… if I win, I know exactly who I’m giving this to!

I absolutely agree and don't know why I never thought of it sooner.  I think I'll be doing an April Fool's giveaway every year now. :)

New Ornament SQUEAL!

IMG_5863

I LOVE when the mail lady rings my bell! It means she has brought me something special! I was so happy Jenn offered to do an ornament swap this year and Southern Sass sent me an AWESOME ornament!!!

IMG_5865

Let's check it out!

IMG_5866

I love to just rip into the paper. I'm not a prissy-snip-the-tape wrapping saver, lol.

IMG_5867

Oh my, I still can't see what's in there, can you?

IMG_5868

It's SO perfectly magnificent! Believe! Indeed I do! THANK YOU SO SO SO VERY MUCH KIM!!! Hey, I just realized I didn't open the card yet - I better go back! :)

Thank you Betty!

lc3113

I received this nice care package from Betty in Paraguay - from the Christmas Ornament Swap I hosted.  This wooden ornament is rather big, several inches tall and very pretty!

lc3166

While this is technically a key chain I'm glad she included it and I hung it on my tree as well.  It seem rather fitting as we were in the US Philadelphia this year. lol

lc3112

I love the colorful doily!  I have not yet decided where to put it but I have used it in the background of a few photos recently.  Love the happy colors!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BTW - if you participated but still have not received anything please let me know.  I don't want anyone being left out!
I'm a lucky girl!
lc3036
I am such a lucky, lucky girl! My wonderful bloggy friend, Dani used her nimble fingers to work this fine thread into this lovely piece of art! Then she decided to give it away on her blog and when I thought her daughter did a wonderful job picking names, lol. :) Thank you so much Dani!
Happy Thanksgiving!
PayItForwardIn August I signed up for Jan's Pay-it-forward. Then I promptly forgot about it.
lc3035
One day in October, I received this magnificent quilt in the mail! Jan tells me that the fabric is called happy campers and as I was it the circles will fray, rag quilt-like. :)
lc3034
As you can see, Tristan loves it! There's so much for him to see, so many little pictures in the fabrics used!
So, this is the day, I tell you, that it is my turn to Pay-it -forward.  If you're interested in receiving a little something made by me please let me know in comments.  The rules state that I have 365 days to complete said project and send it to you.  So you never know when you'll open your mailbox and see a little package from me, and you don't know what it'll be, because I don't even know yet, lol.   I didn't see anything in the rules about how many to do, so I'm going to say 2.  Two lucky(?) peeps will get something made by my hands. :)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!  Have a wonderful family-filled day!
Last Chance for the Christmas Ornament Swap
CLOSED NOW - THANX
Monday (Nov 2nd) I have emailed everyone with their partner's information. It will probably be Tuesday before I have a chance to sit down and start emailing people with their partners information. If you have not heard from me by Wednesday evening please contact me.
lc2962
If you're looking for ideas about what kind of ornament to send I would suggest something that signifies your state. I love getting ornaments from other states, like this lobster we picked up in Maine this year. Won't he be smashing on our tree?!
lc2961
Or, maybe you can find something that signifies your partner's hobby? I just chanced upon this cute camera at a rest stop on our way to the Quad cities for a wedding. They only had one or I would have bought more.
lc2960
Or, maybe you want to ask your swap buddy what kind of ornaments they like. Maybe they have ideas of santas, snowmen, bears, angels. . .
Don't forget we all need to be ready to mail out our packages by November 14th!  And most of all - Have fun!
The Flying Squirrel has a name
lc1581
I promised Jelly Bellies to the person who chose the name for my newest friend. We have a winner, comment 31 - Tim suggested, “I would call him Pixel” Tim doesn’t have a blog to link to, but I have emailed him.
lc1584
Please meet Pixel. An appropriate name for a boy or a girl, and for a petite flying squirrel. And something simple to call him/her while (s)he hangs out with us for a while.
lc1582
Last Friday, we had our hottest day so far, even broke a record for hottest at 86 degrees. Poor Pixel was very hot since the trees do not yet have leaves and the sun was beating down on the bird house.
lc1583
I felt so bad that I ran the sprinkle below the house trying to help cool the air. But the heat made her stay this way for much of the day. This is how I found out that we’ll be having babies and Pixel is a girl.
lc1585
I don’t how long Pixel will be with us, so lets enjoy her while we can. I look forward to seeing babies!
Wanna win some Jelly Bellies?
lc1539
For the last few weeks I have been wondering who put the stuffing in this birdhouse. I never saw any creature coming or going and it may have been there all winter unnoticed because I didn't really even look at it until the snow started melting and I wondered if I'd be lucky enough to have a guest this spring.
lc1535
Then, Saturday afternoon, I guess the neighborhood was noisy enough that this little guest popped his head out.
lc1536
Who is this? Let's get closer.
lc1538
After I got close enough to realize that this is my little flying squirrel friend (spotted last October on my suet), I slowly backed away, went into the garage and did the happy dance like I had just won a million dollars. My husband looked at me like I had lost my mind. So I stopped jumping and wiggling, breathed deeply and softly told him that a flying squirrel had moved into the birdhouse. I also told him that I was so excited and thrilled (like he couldn't tell) and maybe there'd be babies and on and on, then I started jumping again.
This man really loves me, he gave me that smile that you give to excited children when you're pretty puzzled by their joy but are just happy to be away from their tears. And he did not take me to the mental institute so I feel pretty loved.
lc1537
I think he likes me. :) I was about 5 feet from him here. Here's where the contest comes in. He (or she) needs a name. Did I mention how excited I am?  I hope there's babies, which I suppose would mean that there's more than one.  But I'm just so happy to be able to get a photo of him.   I hope to catch him out eating, but he's nocturnal so that may not happen.  A girl can dream.
lc1541
We recently discovered that Milwaukee has a Jelly Belly factory. So, leave your suggestions of a name for the little fellow and I will choose one and deliver some Wisconsin Jelly Bellies to the person who suggested the name. In the event a name comes up more than once I'll go with the first person who suggested it. You can leave as many comments/names as you want between now and next Monday noon. I'll announce the winner, and the winning name, next Tuesday.
lc1540
Boy? Girl? What do you think we should call him?
Free salt and pepper shaker
t1647
A few years ago we found these cute little salt and pepper shakers at a garage sale. They made us giggle. I could tell you what we think they are supposed to be, but maybe I would prefer to hear your ideas.
t1646
They have sat in their box since we bought them, being moved around and laughed at each time they turn up. But I’ve had my time of joy and would now like to pass them on.
t1644
So, after you have made your guess as to what they are, just let me know if you’d like them and I’ll do a random generator on Friday, November 28th and announce the winner. Be sure and let me know if you’d like any of the books I’m giving away too.
