I LOVE snow!!!

Love how the lights melted little holes in the snow.

Check out the roof! Amazing snow even on top of the window, under the eave.

A peek under the eave, the snow curling down, and the wind chime I got in Door County, on our third anniversary.

The wall along the back patio - the little table I sit at most of the summer, a shelf where potted plants sit in warmer days, the roof.

The picnic table in out little gazebo - we learned last winter that we must take the fabric off the top of it - under the snow you'll see a tarp on the tabletop, that's because Fibi loves to sit there and observe the world.

The Christmas cow now has an igloo! You can still barely see the buck.

We are getting to see a lot fancy sun dogs and halos and such!

Playing with the snowblower is fun! We actually don't bring it out that often, only for big snows or if we're in a hurry.

Usually we shovel, all three of us together, or me if the guys are gone. Dennis has even gotten in his share of shoveling. I still laugh at our first winter in Wisconsin - he was always gone during snowfalls and the shoveling fell to me. The first time he was home when it snowed he bought a blower, lol.

Silly snow thought it was done with fun once it fell. It had no idea it was going to fly again.

Flood of 2010

It was a great weekend to be a duck in Central Wisconsin. Pretty much any river or creek overflowed its banks, many road closures, and some houses had to be evacuated. It was the most water I've seen since living here!

There were ducks enjoying water in places there would normally be grass. It was quite a sight!

This bench sits on the end of a pier on the Wisconsin River (above the dam) in Bukolt Park, Stevens Point.

River Road running along the west side of the Wisconsin River had to be blocked off, along with several bridges crossing it.

This was as the water was coming back down.

One of our favorite places to shoot portraits. Normally there's not this much water.  In fact, normally the "ditch" is dry.

See, lots less water.  Just compare where the dam is and you can tell.  The water was clear up to the wall on the left, you can see that wall in a photo further down.

Looking in the other direction you can see the train bridge in the distance, with water nearing the bottom of it.

Handicapped Accessible Fishing Pier would be difficult to get to.

This spot is one of the places you can jump on the Green Circle Trail. Normally the water is way out past the trees. There was so much water some trees were uprooted and tossed onto the trail, and the trail was flooded in spots even though it's quite a bit higher than the water normally is.

If you go down this road and hang a left, go a couple more blocks, there's a huge parking area for Galecke Park. Oh, and a boat ramp, but don't think you can make it to any of that. There are houses down there too, btw.

Dennis wanted to walk it, but he couldn't even make it to the corner, the water got thigh deep and he turned back, smartly, I think.

See, he's little bity down there.

Hope you don't rent a yearly spot at this riverside campground. All Rvs had to be moved up along the roads.

Snow in May

And it's accumulating!

The bush in our front yard is now flat. Haden's car now has branches on it, the snow is just too heavy! We have a branch blocking our driveway too! We've had snow here (Wisconsin) in May before but it never accumulated - well since we've lived here, about 7 years now. These flakes started very fat - like big blobs, falling fast, like they were heavy. It's still falling, wonder what sort of damage it's doing.

The Flying Squirrel has a name

I promised Jelly Bellies to the person who chose the name for my newest friend. We have a winner, comment 31 - Tim suggested, “I would call him Pixel” Tim doesn’t have a blog to link to, but I have emailed him.

Please meet Pixel. An appropriate name for a boy or a girl, and for a petite flying squirrel. And something simple to call him/her while (s)he hangs out with us for a while.

Last Friday, we had our hottest day so far, even broke a record for hottest at 86 degrees. Poor Pixel was very hot since the trees do not yet have leaves and the sun was beating down on the bird house.

I felt so bad that I ran the sprinkle below the house trying to help cool the air. But the heat made her stay this way for much of the day. This is how I found out that we’ll be having babies and Pixel is a girl.

I don’t how long Pixel will be with us, so lets enjoy her while we can. I look forward to seeing babies!

Tundra Swans in Waupaca

When Dennis was on his way home one day he saw a lot of white on the lake. He couldn’t tell what they were but decided to take me to check it out.

Unfortunately, this is as close as we could get. But most of those birds are Swans. I guess the Tundra Swans were migrating, because we haven’t seen them since.

There sure were a lot of them.
