We decided to go to Wabasha Minnesota and take a look for some eagles. Unfortunately, they didn’t get the memo. This is the closest we got.
When I tried to get a little closer, he took off.
Oh well, better luck next time.
I tried sneaking up on the Pileated Woodpecker, but he took off too. It just wasn’t a good day.
Well....I think you got some good shots anyway! Probably not as close as you would have liked, but I hope you had a good road trip anyway!
ReplyDeleteSome days are like that, yeah they are! You have a pretty good success ratio though...
ReplyDeleteI think just getting this close is FABULOUS!!! Thanks for sharing these with us:)
ReplyDeleteThat has been my luck since I got my new telephoto, I swear I almost could walk up to the hawks before, not off they go before I even get close.
ReplyDeletePretty birdies:)
ReplyDeletelucky you. great shots
ReplyDeleteMy entry for CC this week : in HERE. Hope you have time to visit . Thanks
I think your shots were great! Sometimes the wildlife just knows we're coming! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThose are still great shots considering you were at a distance.
ReplyDeleteThose pileated woodpeckers are tricky guys to get good photos of.
Those woodpeckers are so beautiful. I wish I saw more of them when we're out and about.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are great. I especially like the shot of the eagle in flight. Fantastic. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletelooks like great shots to me.
ReplyDeleteYou got closer than I ever have! I think these pictures are great!
ReplyDeleteWell, they aren't chopped liver, Lisa! Still lovely photos.
ReplyDeletebtw - your web link on Camera Critters was wrong - you put in a comma instead of a dot between chaos and com. But I knew how to find you!
ReplyDeleteWoody was quite the tease that day! Love the eagle shots.
ReplyDeleteLisa - I think your shots are lovely. I long to be out there enjoying this trip with you. So relaxing looking.
ReplyDeleteI think you got some gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteI think the eagle in flight is pretty awesome...and so is the Pileated. Just to be able to see one that close would be AWESOME to me! Great ones!!
ReplyDeleteLisa! That last one is great. No need to get closer. It's perfectly framed.
ReplyDeletevery nice!
ReplyDeleteWonderful captures of these great birds.
ReplyDeleteIt happens sometimes. I am sure you will get those shots you want in the near future. I wish my country offers as much in the area of nature photography!
ReplyDeleteI don't know! That's a pretty great shot of the eagle flying away!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about these big birds, once you turn your car off they are gone! Their instincts are amazing. Nice images all the same.
ReplyDeleteI think raptors in general are more like that than most birds. I've never been able to sneak up on one -- of any variety. But man do they ever make a striking silhouette in flight!
ReplyDeleteLove that splash of red on the woodpecker. It jumps out of the scene like a flare gun! Sweet shot!
Are u kidding? those are great! I can't seem to get a good one of an eagle in flight.
ReplyDeleteWow, You got eagle shots too. They are awesome creatures. I was not lucky enough to get a close up of one in flight yet. Only sitting on a branch and flying in a distance.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
I think you did quite well, really. Some of my birding days recently have been birdless.
ReplyDeleteIt's better than nothing ! I don't remember when I saw an eagle last time ! Must have been in another life ! and the woodpecker which lives near our house I can only hear, but never saw it !
ReplyDeleteyou got some great shots!! the in flight photo is awesome and the woodpecker is beautiful
ReplyDeleteStill, they are all lovely! I particularly like the first and the last shots!..and at least you were in the bosom of nature! :)
ReplyDeleteGosh, at least you saw them and got them at all.
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful!
