Only in Wisconsin

We have a winner!

Several months ago my husband had some escargot with dinner, and while I would not touch them with a ten foot pole. I did bring those cute little snail shells home with me to photograph.

t824

I remember washing them up real good, but then forgot all about them. I apparently tucked them into a couple of the drawers of my jewelry box and promptly forgot about them.

t822

I hope you aren’t too disappointed by this revelation. L^2 at Dog's Eye View was the lucky guesser.

t823

So I snapped a few photos before I ship the shells off.

CONGRATULATIONS L-Squared!

Camera Safety While Traveling

t731

Can we talk for a minute? Do you have an old car seat sitting around? Do you fret about where to sit your camera while you’re driving down the road? I have a solution!

t730

My camera is my baby, why not treat it like one? I don’t give it a bottle, although I feed it freshly charged batteries. I don’t change its diaper, but do wipe off its “eye”. For months, I tried to figure out where to place it in the car that it would be safe and still easier to get to than it’s Pelican case. Then a light bulb went off. The baby seat is perfect! It’s padded, has an adjustable belt and a sunshade.

t732

Even Tristan’s big boy seat can stay in the car and be used by the camera when he’s not here.

t733

Look how safe it looks. Makes you wanna go out and buy a safety seat doesn’t it?

Sluicing Loquaciously

I have a couple of favorite words, good thing, since that’s what Mothers or Brothers wants to know.

I love Loquacious [loh-kwey-shuhs], it just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? It means ‘talking or tending to talk much or freely; talkative; chattering; babbling; garrulous; characterized by excessive talk; wordy’ In fact, I love the word so much it is part of Brodi’s registered name, Loquacious Lacroix [la crwa]. I like Lacroix too, it’s from that old vampire show Forever Knight, and it’s French meaning ‘the cross’

t738

I have come to love the word sluice [sloos] in all of its variations. I blame Koontz for that. So many things sluice in his books and it’s become a game between my husband and I to guess which page it will be on before we start reading one of his novels. When the word never shows up we are very disappointed.

t737

You probably wonder why I showed you airplanes today, they aren’t loquacious or sluicing, but they were pretty scary to watch. Can you tell how close they came to the power lines and each other?

Oh I also like my little made up word of slooshy - I tried to teach it to our French friend but he acted so serious while trying to learn it I fessed up. :)

Cell Phones

t736

We have had Sprint cell phones for at least 6 years now and have always been happy with them.  So happy in fact that for the last year we have had 6 lines on our plan.  Recently, Sprint made some changes and no longer allow 6 lines to be on one plan.  What this means is that, without our knowledge, or consent, our phones were split up into two plans!

Luckily, my husband discovered this within a week of it happening.  Unfortunately, even after a long time on the phone with several different people, nothing can be done about it.  We feel that since Sprint made the change, and at no fault of our own we cannot continue on the plan we had where the 6th line costs $9.99 instead of $99 a month, we should be allowed to disconnect that 6th line without the $200 deactivation fee.

Sprint says if we want to shut that line off it will cost $200 period.  We argued and got nowhere.  We are not going to pay for two plans, making our bill well over $200 a month - that’s not going to happen.  And we don’t feel it is fair that they charge us the early termination fee when the only reason we want to terminate that phone is because of billing changes they made and are forcing on us.  We never consented to it and would never agree to it.  They just made the changes and that’s how it is.

The only solution we were given is that we could place that one line in limbo for 6 months at a charge of $5.95 a month.  That is the choice we made as it saves us the most money, but is this really fair?!

We are not very happy with Sprint right now.  And if they can just change our plan all willy nilly, as they please, and force us into things we do not want to do, then I think we will be shopping for a new cell phone carrier very soon.

Stop and smell the flowers

Well, I had this idea for a post rattling around in my head but since I haven't made it happen yet due to my fun getting the colonoscopy yesterday, you get one I had in draft instead.  This was the easiest colonoscopy I've had and I've had 5 in 3 years!  It was a breeze and the doctor says everything looks good.  I did not hear back with the results of my PET Scan but am hoping to find out how the rest of my body is doing on Monday.  Keeps those wishes/prayers/thoughts coming please.  Hopefully, I'll get an all clear there too.

I happened to have a couple of empty pots sitting around and decided to find a few plants to fill them with.

t498

We bought this pot in the southwest on our first vacation together six years. Somehow it has survived a few moves.

t497

Pretty and dainty.

Little ray of sunshine.

Look at those tiny little bugs. Are they aphids?

I've had two people tell me they have had trouble emailing my new address, they are getting an error message.  If you have a second could you try sending me an email at lisa at lisaschaos dot com - or use the handy form up above?  Thanx!  Glad everyone is liking the new digs!  Have you had a chance to poke around?  What's your favorite part?
