Southern Cemeteries
Of course we stopped in a few cemeteries along our route. This one was a very interesting place, the only one on Tybee Island, Georgia.
I was inthralled with the palms as much as the cemetery, lol. I just love these huge trees!
Such cool "bark"!
See, the palm was in the cemetery, lol.
A very interesting place, with an interesting history.
Another small cemetery we explored featured this indian.
And a few Confederate Soldiers.
I found all these numbered markers together intriguing - cremated remains?
Some very busy ants!
The third cemetery I'm sharing is in Florida, near Jacksonville, but it had so much Spanish Moss that I felt like I was still in Georgia. Isn't this trunk cool?!
See what I mean?
Such beautiful places, full of history.

The last cemetery looks a little scary! I love the numbered round markers above that and the bark of the palm tree. I think I've never seen a cemetery with a palm tree. Obviously haven't been looking when in the south!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. One of my "goals" is to see trees with spanish moss .... right now all I can see is a bunch of da*n wet snow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. The little numbered circles are intriguing. Love the last picture. Those trees are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou should stop and visit Carrie, in Clayton, NC., she has one, right on here block. It's un-fenced, just right there on the block.
ReplyDeleteLove the tree trunk. Almost looks like an animal is poking his head out. I love cemeteries as well, looks like you found some gems.
ReplyDeleteThese are so fascinating. I love your eye and what you choose to photograph.
ReplyDeleteI really love the shot of the stone at the base of the tree. That's where I'd want mine to be I think. If I got to choose anywhere.
