live oaks

Live Oaks are a southern symbol of strength.  The wood is hard and strong, it's used for structural beams and in places requiring strength and durability.  I spread my limbs and let the world know I am a Mighty Live Oak inside!

I fell in love with the massive, intriguing Live Oak trees in Louisiana!  They are so very tall they make any building nearby seem small and squatty.  These wonderful trees survived Katrina!  Amazing!! :0)

It's amazing how strong threadlike needles are - I think often we feel that we are weak and unable, then surprise ourselves by being powerful and able to withstand much.  The burden of cancer is a rather large weight, but somehow we find a way to keep moving on.

the view

There are moments that the only healing I need is to be outside. To sit by some water and watch the dragonflies celebrate, see the fishes blow bubbles and watch the birds flit by. These moments help me find my balance, give me strength to keep going.

Roses are Red

Life comes with thorns.  Thankfully, the sweet smell of the roses help ease the pain, and wash away the memory of how bad the stick really was.  When we concentrate on the frilly delicate petals, and the intricacy of their making, we are led down a better path.  This plant is able to survive the frigid winter and awaken in the spring to bring more beauty to summer.  I was able to survive chemotherapy and begin to bloom again.

strength

As I stood in the field, Belgians thundering around, I was struck not only with their beauty, but also with their strength.  I swear their hooves made the earth shake!  I could feel their power from yards away.  I may not weigh a ton (I sure hope I don't, lol) but I love the thought of having the strength inside me of one of these gloriously strong draft horses!
