Brodi and the butterfly

IMG_9665

I'm thinking that butterflies must like stinky butts, lol. While I watched this one waiting for it to land and finally it landed - on Brodi's tail. He was clueless, never knew.

Worry compounds the futility of being trapped on a dead-end street. Thinking opens new avenues.” ~ Cullen Hightower

We are currently in our busiest part of summer.  Huge wedding last weekend, a huge one this weekend that will take up all of our weekend (we'll be on the island and I don't think we'll have internet at all) and another one next weekend. . . Plus all the normal every day obligations, housework, and so on.  Throw into the mix working on the Fiat, we would like to drive it around before the snow flies, I can't seem to catch up.  I promise you all I will be by to catch up and see what you're up to as soon as I can.

splash of color

080310

When I think of moths, I think of dull and drab, things to be overlooked, not noticed. But, this fellow was waiting for me when I walked into the kitchen, just chillin' on my dish towel. When I noticed his flash of orange, nearly the same color as my towel, I had to run to get the camera. Unfortunately, as I moved the towel, trying to find a better angle, he tucked his beautiful brightness away.  I would like to think that we all have flashes of orange hidden inside, ready to share on a whim.

I have been seeing a LOT of orange lately, we even ended up painting the Fiat orange, I'm wondering if there's some message I'm just not getting. . .

black eyed susans

080210

Seeing Black Eyed Susans makes my mind flash to a photo taken many years ago, I must have been six or seven years old in the photo. My blond hair is in pigtails (I always liked to pretend they were dog ears) and I'm wearing a yellow bathing suit with flowers on it. I was at the creek with my mom and in the photo I'm really smiling (I look a wee bit ornery too), so I assume I must have been having fun - I usually did with my mom. Boy, was that little girl clueless about where her life would lead! I cannot even be positive that Black Eyed Susans bloomed on the banks of the creek. But in my far away memory, they are blooming there still.

going around

080110

I have this habit of doing what I call, thinking in circles.  For instance, I start feeling pretty confident that all the little cancer cells are gone forever.  I feel relieved that I will never again go through chemo and it's all behind me.   Then I remind myself that I still need to go for my check ups.  Before long, I am thinking, "What if they find something?", "I can't go through all that again.", "I don't want my family to be put through it all again.", "Maybe, I should just not go, do nothing and let things end quickly rather than drag my family through it again.", "But I feel good now, so I don't have to worry about that now.". . . then I'm back to thinking that I'm invincible.  On and on these thoughts fly through my head.  It's a vicious circle I have been in too many times to count.

My son has a knack for finding little creatures. Not sure of the technical name of this one, we always just call them leaf hoppers.
