Of course your photographer's eye for composition helped most of all.

My favorite macro set up is a Nikon series E 75-150 mm zoom lens with a close up lens attached. The close up lenses I have are both high quality Nikon optics (dual element) and the 75-150 mm lens is legendary. I waited for over a year before I was able to snag a good one on ebay. That's a lotta ...Excuse me, did you say 400mm? That's a lotta cake... but I can understand. I can get 400mm using a 2x expansion tube on my 200mm f/2.8 but it costs me 2 stops and slows my focusing abilities down dramatically (especially in AF -- and actually I can get 560mm if I add on the 1.4x behind the 2x, but focusing is... shall we say... "interesting". And frustrating.) So even though I can come up with the focal length, trying to shoot wildlife -- even the small friendly kind -- with it would be an exercise in futility. I certainly don't think I'd be getting anything like this. (Actually, I'm not sure I'd have seen this guy from that far away, much less tried to shoot him.)

Nice job!Mojohttp://mojo11.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5114884266541988246.post-30815674896223623992009-10-04T16:07:07.000-06:002009-10-04T16:07:07.000-06:00That's one thing I don't have (well, more ...That's one thing I don't have (well, more than one, but in this case...) is a long focal length lens.
